Stories
I studied textiles and surface pattern at College, which is where I first experimented with latex as a medium for my art. After finishing I moved to London where I worked for 12 years as a commercial graphic artist. Then in 2003 I started going to TG, it was it a complete revelation to me, I had never imagined such worlds existed! I was hooked and I have never looked back! It taught me to be true to myself and to embrace who I am and it also got me into wearing latex too.
I love wearing latex, the first time I slipped into it, I felt empowered and sexy. As an artist new experiences are essential to my creativity and I think my first encounter had a profound effect on me. Then one afternoon while I was working on a new latex outfit for myself, I had an epiphany, why not combine the two, to create something truly unique in both the art and fetish world.
My art explores fetish subcultures, drawing influences from a broad range of sexual fetishes including rubber fetishism, BDSM and sexual objectification, each piece becoming defined and fetishised via its latex conceptualisation. My work is highly individual, as each portrait is meticulously constructed using sheet latex, the exact proportions of cut latex shapes are layered to create instantly recognisable portraits with a nod to pop art with expanses of colour.
I have sold prints and latex originals all over the world, and have many collectors including Liam from the Prodigy! I’ve exhibited in many prestigious galleries including the Saatchi Gallery, London; La Luz De Jesus Gallery, Los Angeles and Sin City Gallery in Las Vegas.
My most successful creations to date are my Queen portraits. They depict Her Majesty sporting two subversive looks. The first sees her in full latex hood with collar and crown, the second in just the collar and crown, which made the front page of Skin two magazine a few years back.
I take on private commissions and provide a highly individual portrait service, working closely with clients to create something truly unique. If you’d love to be immortalised in latex, get in touch!
